I am currently a fourth grade teacher at Windsor Park Elementary School. I completed my Masters of Arts in Education (K-6) in May of 2015. My undergraduate degree (Davidson College, 2011) work in Sociology began my passion for working with families and caring for children. I believe all children need positive adult influences in their lives, and as teachers, we are one of the most important.
Throughout my experiences in the classroom and my classes at Queens, I have found an enormous passion for teaching math and working with data. I believe teachers can be better instructors when we understand where our students' strengths and weaknesses are. I have served as the "Data Chair" for my grade-level for the past two years, and I love it! I have also completed the Associate's Level Training in the Orton Gillingham Academy to further my knowledge and understanding of how children learn phonics, reading and writing, and to better aid children with specific learning needs in my classroom.
In this portfolio, please find my resume, examples of lesson plans and other information about me as a teacher.
